We’ve about got everything packed back up, and ready to leave the hotel room.
The trip went well, until we hit a delay because of highway work just outside of Vicksburg, MS. When we found the exit for the hotel we had settled on, we called an evening of it and stayed the night at Fairfield Inn/Marriott.
A small, comfortable hotel; which had internet access, and secure indoor rooms.
Mom’s has gone down for the luggage cart; so I’d best log out for the moment.
The next post will be either Friday or Saturday (when we get another room with internet access).
Will keep you posted.

Quick update:
“Cobweb” the young long-haired cat is fine; she got over her snake bit swollen neck, and seems to have hidden herself (and kittens) in the undergrowth behind the barn.
Other things:
I sit waiting…I hate waiting…
Anyway, whenever Mom does get here, she has 3 photos that need scanning, and to be emailed to a cousin in Alaska — to see if she can ID the folks in the pictures.
Why the waiting?
A trip for Mom and me to a Spruiell family reunion in Hubbard, TX.
Just us (two-some), and it is probably going to be a wet trip; there is weather blowing in from the gulf…
I doubt that Mom will back out at this late date. Weather or no weather.
She has been looking forward to this reunion for right a year. last year she caught a flight, and met up with cousins in Texas. This time she settled on driving, thinking it would be more cost effective; as well as allow ‘us’ more freedom of travel in the area once we arrive in Texas.
I must admit — it is 4:37 pm.
Mom said she would be here around 3:00, or a little after. I just do hope that she gets here safely. It shouldn’t take but an hour to an hour and half to drive from the house. But she did say she had to drop a time sheet by the office in Columbiana (for payroll).
She here.
More later.

It’s a terribly hot day — one of our younger cats, “Cobweb” is having a really bad day…she gave birth to her first litter of kittens, then she shows up for a drink water this afternoon, with a swollen neck & chin. Seems she has had another encounter with a snake or frog.
She appears in good health, other than the swelling; but does not look too happy.
I do hope that she will be able to eat the evening meal with everyone else; I have no clue where the kittens are hidden; but given she was bitten, I would hazard a guess that they are in some heavy undergrowth, nearby.
As for everyone else — people as well as cats — we are trying to hide from the heat today. Dave is reading in the shade at the creek; I am about to park in front of the AC and read a magazine or book for a while.
As for what I have done today? I have folded clothes, cooked two meals, washed a load of clothes, and have a second load to get washing now.
I will write again later this evening — barring any unexpected diversions.
Keep cool.
